Fixed Adjustable Pitch Propeller (FP-A)
The Fixed Adjustable Pitch (FP-A) Propeller System combines the simplicity and robustness of a fixed pitch propeller with the flexibility of adjustable blade pitch. It is a reliable solution for vessels where fine-tuning of propeller performance is required after installation or when operating conditions may change over time.
Compared with a conventional Fixed Pitch (FP) system, the FP-A has lower hydrodynamic efficiency, higher purchase and maintenance costs, and more expensive spare parts. For this reason, we generally recommend an FP system whenever it can meet the vessel's performance requirements. The FP-A is the preferred choice when post-installation pitch adjustment provides a clear operational advantage.
Blade pitch is adjusted mechanically by an external screw in the propeller hub. Pitch adjustments can be carried out during dry docking or by a diver without dismantling the propeller.
Each propeller is individually designed to match the vessel's operating profile and customer requirements. Propellers are available with diameters up to 2.2 metres, with 3 or 4 blades, and are manufactured to the highest tolerance classes.
